Can I use 10w30 top grade eg valvoline winter then switch to 10w40 for hot months?
this would be on older vehicles such as 72 cutlass 350. Iive in deep south (GA) . I used 20w50 racing oil in it as it aged, minimal leak
even used 20w50 in old volkswagen no leak
Since you’ve been running 20/50 in it, I wouldn’t go less than 10/40 for winter. I’m not sure about Valvoline motor oil thought. I’ve heard it does sludge up in engines. I would recommend Castrol High Mileage motor oil. I have used it for years and never had a problem.
