Balloon Artist San Diego Series- How to tie a balloon
First of all, it’s a lot easier to follow the instructions in a video format rather than in a written format. For best results visit my YouTube channel under the channel name Sandiballoon.
Now, having issued that disclaimer, here are the instructions:
1. For a 260 balloon (the long skinny modeling balloons), before tying it, give it a good burp to release some of the pressure. Don’t release so much air that you change the size of the balloon, but just enough to release some of the pressure and make it more manageable. If you can’t stretch the nozzle around your fingers, let a little more air out. (This is not the case for round balloons)
2. Lay the balloon across your palm and thread the nozzle through your middle and ring fingers.
3. Wrap the balloon around the back of your middle finger and pointer finger.
4. Bring the nozzle around your fingers until it criss-crosses with the inflated portion of the balloon.
5. Open your middle finger and pointer fingers, so that you create a hole that you can tuck the nozzle through.
6. Put the nozzle up through the hole, hold onto it with the thumb and pointer finger of the hand that is not wrapped in the balloon and remove your fingers from being wrapped in the balloon (while holding the nozzle with your other hand so it doesn’t come back out with your fingers).
This is the method that works best for me. Other people have other methods, so you really have to find the method that works the best for you. Some people prefer to wrap it around their thumb and pointer finger- but most balloon artists will agree that it’s far easier to tie if you wrap it around two fingers rather than just one.
