Don’t Let Them Take Over Your Life – Getting Rid Of Bed Bugs Before They Have An Opportunity
Not many people like the idea of sharing their homes with the parasites known as bedbugs. People who do happen to run into this problem want to know how to get rid of bed bugs. According to most people they are offensive, undesirable house guests.
The bites these bugs leave can be horribly itchy and painful. The bugs are not easily seen, but the bites are not easily ignored. These little creatures are drawn to warm bodies when they are asleep, so they can covertly complete their mission to feed.
Bedbugs were pretty much wiped out during the 1940′s, with the help of a deadly poison called DDT, but in 1995 they began to reappear. Horror stories of infestations have become more and more frequent over the last several years.
When feeding, these little critters use two tubes. They use one tube to inject anticoagulants and anesthetics, (much the same way mosquito’s and leeches do), and the other is used to suck up the blood of their host. The thought of these creatures hiding in our beds, waiting for us to sleep before they come out to feed on us, is a very disturbing thought to most people.
Roaches are an enemy of these bugs. They like to eat them, but it’s probably not wise to enlist the help of roaches. Bedbugs are not easy to kill these days due to their ability to survive the use of many sprays used to poison them.
Assuming you’ve decided against using cockroaches to rid your home of these ugly little bugs, the options you’re left with consist of using bug sprays designed to kill them, and a lot of vacuuming. You, of course, also have the option of calling a professional exterminator, but no matter what, there will be a lot of vacuuming involved when the battle is over.
There is a lot to be said about prevention in this area. Preventing an infestation is a lot easier than treating one. If at all possible, do not buy used mattresses. Don’t buy your bedding from companies or stores you don’t trust. These tiny bugs often hitch rides on the luggage or clothes of people who have spent time in hotels that are home to these creatures.
If you have done some traveling, and slept in places unfamiliar to you, it might be a good idea to check your bags over and make sure you’re not carrying any unwanted passengers before you bring your stuff inside. Try getting rid of bed bugs, before the bed bugs take over your home, and you’ll save yourself a lot of work in the long run.
