Anna Fermanova May Be An Additional Anna Chapman
Anna Chapman is old news, America; there’s a new Russian spy around, with Latvian origins. Latvian immigrant Anna Fermanova, 24, is stealing the hearts of Facebook fans with her good looks and stealing military hardware from the U.S. Fermanova is alleged to have sent a military grade Raptor 4X Night Vision Weapons sight to her spouse in Moscow illegally, reports the New York Daily News. Fermanova was arrested at her parents’ suburban Dallas home July 15, roughly a month after her most recent trip to Moscow to visit her husband. It ‘looks a lot worse than it really is,’ claims Anna Fermanova’s lawyer
According to Anna Fermanova’s lawyer Scott Palmer, “She’s a nice Jewish girl who lives with her sweet Latvian father and mother. There is no terrorism link. There’s no espionage”. But a confidential informant is reported to have tipped off federal immigration agents as to Fermanova’s illicit activities. Federal authorities who stopped Fermanova at Kennedy Airport before she boarded her flight for Moscow found a $ 7,000 Raptor 4X Night Vision Weapons Sight and two other sights worth $ 4,000 apiece.
According to reports, Fermanova told authorities she’d purchased the scopes online for her husband’s hunting party in Russia. Authorities questioned whether she knew it was illegal to leave the country with military grade hardware without a proper exporter’s license, and Fermanova responded that she’d filled out some paperwork, but was unsure of its purpose. Apparently it did not constitute the license necessary for exportation.
Fermanova admits to removing serial numbers from the scopes
Fermanova reportedly used a black marker to cover up the serial numbers on the night vision scopes. Federal agents found her explanation and the act itself rather suspect. Ultimately, the scopes were repossessed and she was authorized to fly to Moscow, but once she returned, her passport was seized and Anna Fermanova was taken into custody. She was charged with “knowingly and intentionally attempting to export defense articles on the United States Munitions list”. As outlined by the Daily News, that offense comes with a 10-year prison sentence if Fermanova is convicted. At this moment, Anna Fermanova is under house arrest in her parents’ home, which was made possible when $ 50,000 bail was posted.
She once forged a check
Fermanova had a previous scrape with the law than involved a $ 76 forged check in 2003. A fine and three years’ probation were the result for the previous beauty school student and English instructor. Speaking of beauty school, Fermanova’s Facebook popularity was largely built off photographs taken during her time in cosmetology. Fermanova’s sexy photographs bring to mind the photos of Anna Chapman, which also drew their share of attention from the online passerby.
