Are all the “specialty” flylines out there really worth it ? Or is it just a gimmick ?
Seems like there’s a flyline for every occasion. I can see sink tips and intermediate tips being useful…but “Clouser Line ? “Steelhead Taper” , “Nymph Taper”, “Streamer Epress”…and so on.
Give me a good quality WF floating line and I can be pretty happy.
I think it comes down to whether or not the added performance that you might see in a line is worth the money to you personally. I have found that there are some very specific situations (like casting big flies for musky/pike) where a specialty line can make more than a little bit of a difference.
