How Building a Small Greenhouse Can Change Your Life
One of the greatest additions that can be made by any home gardener to their space is a personal garden greenhouse. Building a small greenhouse that will produce fresh organic vegetables, herbs and fruits is simply a magical experience. With a little planning, elbow grease and a clear set of plans, it can become a reality at reasonable cost. There really is no need to spend a ton of dough on a greenhouse kit or professional contractor.
You might be thinking, I already know how to build a greenhouse. I am just looking for a good design. But, hold on. Because knowing what pieces are required to build a greenhouse that’s inline with your overall goals will actually help you find the right greenhouse design best for your needs.
So, here are a few pieces of sound advice on what to consider when selecting your design. Here are some bits to think about:
Foundation
Do you want a concrete foundation or a wooden one? Poured concrete is a permanent base. But it costs a great deal of money to have. And doing it yourself is not for every person to undertake. Wood on the other hand is usually cheaper but may rot out in a few years.
Framing
Framing is what holds up the glass or other covering material. Wood framing is traditional. But modern construction provides more options like metal or PVC frames. The biggest consideration is what kind of covering material you want.
Covering material
Glass is traditional. Fiberglass, double plastic panels, and plastic film are modern options. The choice depends on how long you want the greenhouse to last and how much you are willing to pay in the end.
Vents and fans
Heat builds up in greenhouses. When selecting your other greenhouse supplies, you must also purchase vents and fans for the space. You can get manual ones or automatic ones. How much work do you want to
put into your greenhouse everyday?
Sealing
Once you get everything together, you need to seal the building. This prevents air and weather from getting in unless you want it to. Sealing depends on the framing and covering you select.

choosing.
It’s best to make these decisions from the very beginning. That way you make the right decisions on which design to select. By thinking about the above guidelines, you’ll be taking the first steps towards finding the right design for your greenhouse.
