How can we calculate this angle?(see the details and see the question’s picture to understand)?
This a picture here(http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/users/43d37537z59920feb/kaveh_67r/__sr_/7b2fre2.jpg?pfKa31DBKz2DmRuB)there is a rod that two different masses are connected to it and it is connected to the ceiling from a point near its CM.the question is that how can we caculate the angle that the rod makes with horizon??

my guess is that you’re going to have to use trigonometry. you can use trig with forces. just find a triangle of some sort in there, find two sides of it, and use the appropriate trig function. (sin=opposite/hypotenuse cos=adjacent/hypotenuse tan=opposite/adjacent).
if you are having trouble locating a triangle, you can connect lines and form a rectangle or parallelagram and you know that the opposite sides of the parallelagram are equal.. hope that helped. if not, repost the question with a link that anyone can access, or feel free to e-mail me the picture at cmi3@yahoo.com
