Learning how to tie fishing knots is a very important fishing skill if you want to make your own quality fishing rig. You need to know the basics such as how to tie fishing knots such as the arbor knot,Trilene knot,Palomar knot, loop knot, double surgeon’s loop knot, blood knot, double unit knot, sliding bobber stop,Albright special knot, haywire twist knot, and the tube knot. The more you get involved in fishing and start using different fishing rigs to target different species of fish, the more types of fishing knots you are going to need to learn how to tie. There are so many different types of fishing knots that are designed for special fishing situations. In our article today we will address just a few of the more common fishing knots used to make a fishing rig.

1. The Arbor fishing rig knot

The arbor fishing knot was designed specifically for re-spooling different types of fishing reels. No mater what type of fishing you plan to do you will need to learn how to tie this fishing knot because every known fishing rig that has a rod and a reel will use this knot to replace new line in your fishing reel.

(1.a) step number one in tying a arbor fishing knot is to wrap you fishing line around the reel spool so that you have about 24 inches of line on the open side of the line the close side goes to the fishing line spool, and the other side in your hand is open.

(1.b) With the open side of the line tie a regular old overhand knot with the close side of the line.

(1.c) With the open side of the line only tie a overhand knot.

(1.d) Snug up the line by pulling on the line from the replacement spool until the overhand knots tighten hard around the fishing spool.

2. The Palomar fishing rig knot

The Palomar fishing knot was designed specially to tie fishing rig leaders to the fishing hook. You will use this knot over and over again. This knot has the same purpose as the Triline knot of which we will knot discuss in this article.

(2.a) Step number one in tying a Palomar knot is to release some line out of your fishing reel or cut off about 24 inches of line from your line spool to make a fishing rig leader. next fold up the end of the line so you end up with a double line about 6 to 8 inches in length, then slide it through the eyelet in the fishing hook.

(2.b) Step number two in tying your Palomar fishing knot is to tie a overhand knot with the leader line or the line that is coming from your fishing reel, and the free end of the line.

(2.c) Step number three in tying your Palomar fishing knot is to feed the hook through the loop you just made with the overhand knot.

(2.d) Step number four in tying your Palomar knot is to pull the overhand knot tight and then pull your fishing rig line or the line coming from your fishing reel tight.

Well that concludes my article about Albright Special Knot. We wish you the best of luck on your next fishing trip!
