Activity Holidays Guide : All Tastes Catered For
In this installment of our activity holidays guide we look at the different types of activity holidays available.
Activity holidays are available in a wide range of formats and there one ares to suit everyone’s tastes. A few of the more popular types are thrill-seeking, wilderness exploring, winter, cycling, and special interest.
Climb rocks, go white water rafting, and cave exploring, these are included the popular thrill seeking trips. You can choose to focus on one activity or instead opt for a multi-activity holiday in which you’ll spend a day or two on each before moving on to the next. You will learn to challenge your body and mind with many different experiences.
The wilderness holidays are awesome for people who like to hang outside, especially in deserts, jungles, mountains, and so on. You can visit almost any continent to find these terrains, some of the best deserts are the Sahara, Namib, and the Gobi while jungles are found in America, India, or Africa; there are plenty of mountain ranges all around the world while the Antarctic and the Outback are great for adventurers. Camping, trekking, learning skills of survival, cultural lessons, learning of various wildlife are all parts of these type of trips.
Some winter activities that are extreme include skiing and snowboarding, but even dog-sledding and snowmobiling are great for the winter. You will need to find open and free areas in order to do the two latter activities unlike skiing which will be done on a resort or mountain.
Go biking in the mountains on great expeditions, or perhaps a gentle flat area is more to your liking, both are possible on bike holidays. These tend to be graded according to their intensity, with the percentage of on and off-road riding, and vehicle support indicated on the website or brochure.
There are also special types of holidays with various activities for those with special interests. Some of these will be intense like yoga or archaeology, while others, such as photography and language learning are great for the mind. You will need to pick up a lot of knowledge throughout your trips and at one point you will become and expert in whatever you choose to pursue.
