I want a Sun Conure as my 1st pet Im 36y/o work until 3am sleep till 12noon is the conure a good pet for my?
type of life also do they bring a lot of bugs b/c of there poop? i live alone & i don’t really care for dogs/cats. any suggestions on another type of parrot that maybe suitable for me. does male or female make a difference when it your 1st pet parrot. i live in NY, no kids, but i work alot. i like to travel by car & i feel a parrot is easier to travel with. i have read some books on Conures & Macaws but i think Macaws r just a bit to much for a first timer. Also is $900 too much for a Sun Conure at the pet store?
NO.
First, parrots need a lot of companionship. Like, 16 hours a day of interaction. Otherwise they get loud and mean. Someone with your work schedule would not be able to provide the attention they need, and it would be cruel to force one to live in so much solitude.
Second, sun conures are one of the loudest and noisiest pet birds around- you won’t get much sleep with one of those screaming for attention 24/7.
I don’t think any bird is really suitable for you- as I said, they need more interaction than you seem capable of giving. Perhaps you should look into a small mammal or reptile- perhaps something exotic, like a hedgehog, or something that can be left alone for your business trips like a large lizard or snake? I just don’t think it’s fair to subject a bird to that sort of lonely lifestyle.
