Why have my efforts been futile in setting up my new Saltwater tank?
I have put a total of $253 into this new hobby and it horribly failed last night around 2am while I was trying to level out the alkalinity levels. I woke up several hours later excited checking my tank for more lively hood then there had been since I added the new animals to the tank. I gasped in horror to see that death had visited overnight killing all of my new creatures in a few short hours. What have I done wrong?
I have a feeling that I need to check more then the usual 5 levels. Perhaps calcium? Do I need to add a stone for more air?
Should I have let the system run 6 weeks? I know I need more light but the light I have is sufficient for now. Please anyone that can help me with this horrible loss in getting my tank back on track to success will be much appreciated.
I’m willing to help but I need to know more information.
1. What equipment are you using?
2. What “creatures” did you add?
3. How long was the tank up for?
4. What are the actual values for what you are testing?
5. What size tank are we talking about?
6. Is this a reef, FOWLR, or fish only tank?
