Magnificent Marquees
Glorious July! The Summer seems to have arrived at last and the weathermen say it will last too! Time for taking that party or wedding reception or hog roast and barbecue out of doors. But even in the great British Summer, you’ll still need some protection from the sun and the inevitable, occasional shower.
Marquees are the ideal temporary answer to give you adequate and often sumptuous outdoor accommodation that is extremely spacious because many designs generally avoid the use of ropes and guy lines, leaving an impressive free space for dining, dancing or just enjoying yourself. Incidentally, many believe the name “Marquee” comes from their resemblance to the entrance of a theatre, which is also called a Marquee. Even if that’s not true, it does seem to be appropriate, using Sussex marquee hire facilities to create an outdoor theatre for your birthday party, christening, picnic or fete.
Marquee layouts are as varied as anyone could wish for, with simple gazebo style designs that will accommodate half a dozen guests to grandiose traditional marquees complete with chandeliers, silk linings and proper wooden flooring that can easily cope with up to 100 guests (although by joining multiple framed tents you can cater for almost any number).
Marquees come in a bewildering variety of styles, sizes and types. Framed marquees are made from aluminium or steel with brilliant white PVC walls and roofs and can be set up on any surface from grass to gravel to stone and tarmac.They are highly stable and can span considerable areas. All framed marquees can be lined and dressed with different colour swags and can be set with festoon lighting or uplighters.They can be decorated with ivy garland to go over the arches of the marquee and the pea lights can be wrapped around the poles to create a truly magical effect.
Traditional pole marquees use centre poles, side poles and guy ropes and are suitable only surfaces such as a lawn or field. These marquees are considered more attractive that the framed variety and are the “standard” marquee you’ll see at fetes or country shows. The Chinese hat pagoda marquee (also known as “witches’ hats” or “garden cottages”) is an attractive, simple modern frame marquee with a distinctive peak.
