Genetic Hackle

Genetic Hackle
if certain fears are written into our genetic code as a survival instinct, why isn’t hell?

if hell is the ultimate place that this god wants us to avoid, and act accordingly, why isn’t the innate fear of hell included in our genetic code and is instead a “learned” fear based upon religious upbringing.

if it was so important to god for us as humans to avoid hell- and if this “hell” was a real threat, especially since its not something we can encounter during our lifetimes- why wouldn’t god give us an “innate fear” of going to hell so that the hackles on the back of our necks rise when we are about to do something that would endanger us going to hell.

even though we have our defence and fear mechanism triggered, dosn’t mean we will listen to it- but the fact that it is not, speaks volumes about this “hell” nonsense.
and about this god nonsense.
certain things are- a natural aversion to certain stimuli. a stove or a car requires understanding.

a snake or spider (possibly poisonous) does generate the “willies” in many people.

I really do not think any fears are written into our genetic code. Both of my children had to be taught to fear things (stove, cars…).

edit: What I am saying is that everything requires a certain understanding, some people do have reactions (willies) from snakes or whatever, but that is something they learned, probably self taught… Feet give me the willies, but I am not afraid of them, just don’t want feet touching me or people touching my feet lol…

I do agree that even children can be startled or scared by something, but usually it is because they are caught by surprise not because they know to fear something.
