Betta fin shreading?
My betta’s fins are shreading. I don’t think that it is fin rot, as the ends are not ragged and do not have the characteristics that I’ve read about fin rot. The tears go up the fin, making the fin almost like streamers. This has happened to all of his fins. He has two plastic plants, rocks at the bottom and a stone pillar in his bowl. He is still flaring, eating well, active, and spreading his fins like nothing is wrong with them. In short, he acts like he always has. He is the only fish in the bowl. The water is changed every week, and the bowl, the rocks, the plants, and the pillar are cleaned very well. Any ideas on what is going on? Is there something I should do for Inman? Or is this just what happens?
His fins may be catching on the plants. You might have to take out the plastic plants (which is probably where he is rubbing up against most) for a week or so. My betta’s fins look like that too and it is because he rubs on the plastic plants. If his scales aren’t rubbed, then it isn’t the stone pillar. There is nothing you can do…it just happens. He’s fine.
